At least one woman survived long enough to give an interview 15 years after the fact, she required hospice in home care and has hours long cluster headaches multiple times a day. All of the subjects were from orphanages and other places no one would be sure they were missing. The lady I mentioned survived because she had a sister who sought her out (?)
